Elk (Electrobits) Invite Applications Open – Fast Growing Music Torrent Tracker

Saturday, 4 February 2012

It’s about time we talked about a new private torrent tracker. The site that we are featuring today is pretty secretive in their ways. Elk (short for Electrobits) is a small private music torrent tracker that is almost always closed for signup. However, new users can now get invited in through the invite application form that is currently online. The site, although relatively new, seems to be looking to become a small but active community of music sharers; there seems to be no place for tracker collectors here as site staff is targeting to recruit only 1000 members in the initial phase. Although only about a month old, it already indexes more than 5000 torrents including lots of FLAC music under multiple genres.

According to official statistics, Elk launched back in January 2012 and already indexes 5700+ active torrents. The site has been closed for signups since day one and currently only has a small user base of around 150 members. A brief description about the site sent to us by its admins pretty much sums it all up:

We are a music tracker that is currently small in size and we are looking to grow. We currently have a user base of 150 and around 5700 torrents. With the addition of our auto-upload bot, uploading has never been more active.
We are focused on quality over quantity. As with most trackers we also offer a request section and we will do what we can to ensure that the requests that are made are fulfilled.
We are not a ratio free site, however due to the bonus system this is one of the easiest sites out there to maintain a good ratio on.

A screenshot of some of the music categories available on Electrobits can be seen below:

As mentioned earlier, the only way into Elk is via an invite. You can get invited in by tracker staff themselves if you successfully fill out the online invite applications form. The form itself is pretty simple and has only 5 questions. You do however have to post three links to profiles of private trackers you are already a member of.

Special thanks to Elk admins for the heads up.

MusicEye.TV – Music Video Torrent Tracker (No Ratio)

Wednesday, 21 September 2011

Specialized music video torrent trackers – we’ve seen quite a few of these launch over the years but very few succeeding in becoming well established BitTorrent sites. MusicEye is the latest tracker to cater to this niche and from what we’ve seen so far, it has the potential of becoming one of the rare successes in this category. ME is powered by Gazelle codebase and is the first ever music video tracker to launch without mandatory ratio requirements (in other words, ratio free). As you may have already guessed, the site tracks music videos, live performances, full concerts and related documentaries (both in standard and high definition). Registrations are currently open if you are planning to create an account – from what we hear from the admins open signups will only last till this Saturday (22nd).

MusicEye.tv

Been in beta for over a month, MusicEye opened to the public just 5 days ago. Response it has received from the BitTorrent community so far has been great – there are already over 1400 members registered on site and this number is likely to increase since registrations are still open. MusicEyes uploaders too have done an excellent job in ramping up the sites content offering – it already indexes over 1100 active music video torrents.

Speaking of the torrent index, the site features music videos, live performances, full converts and music documentaries in HD and standard video formats. These are all well organized in the main index and search thanks to Gazelle. Notable features include Artist pages (somewhat similar to Series pages on BTN), collections, subscriptions, etc. A screenshot showing part of the main torrent index can be seen below:

MusicEye Index

As we mentioned earlier, open registrations would continue until Saturday the 22nd. To quote the official post on homepage:

Open registration will be closing Saturday. After we close registrations, invites will periodically be handed out at staff discretion, or through the points system.

If you are looking for a fast growing tracker for your music video needs, MusicEye is definitely worth a shot.

SatClubbing & Music-Torrents.Org – Two Music Trackers With 35000+ Active Torrents

Monday, 9 May 2011

We are back with two excellent online resources for music fans. Here are two specialized music torrent trackers that are currently open for signup; SatClubbing and Music-Torrents.Org. Some of our older readers may have heard of the former site since this is not the first time we’re featuring SC on this blog. Music-Torrents on the other hand is a promising new site that’s yet to ride the waves of publicity. Despite being overshadowed by giants such as What.CD and Waffles.Fm, both these trackers are doing pretty well in terms of adding new content. SatClubbing primarily caters to the Electronic music genre while Music-Torrents adds around 300 new torrents including scene releases, on a daily basis.

SatClubbing
SatClubbing
SatClubbing is one of the veterans amongst smaller music communities and has been online for nearly four years (since 2007). Based on a customized TBDEV script, SC is known for its nice clean user interface and informative torrent index. The site currently tracks torrent packs, albums, singles, livesets of mostly Electronic, Techno, House and Trance music uploaded by both scene and P2P sources.
SatClubbing Index

As of 9/5/2011, SC tracked around 17000 active torrents. A staggering 125000+ torrents have been uploaded to the tracker in total, since its inception. In case you want to become a member, signups will be open throughout the day on 9th May 2011.

Music-Torrents.Org
Music Torrents
Music-Torrents is a relatively new private tracker compared to SatClubbing but its growth has been rapid. According to official statistics, the site adds around 300 new torrents on a daily basis. The total torrent count hovers somewhere around 24000 which is quite impressive. Unlike SatClubbing, MT does not limit itself to a single music genre. Instead, music related to 40+ different genres (mostly scene releases) are indexed.

Based on a xbtitFM codebase, Music-Torrents incorporates all the standard features of a private tracker including a bonus points system. If you are interested in joining, registrations are currently open.

vgmTorrents Retuns – Private Tracker For Video Game Soundtracks

Sunday, 1 May 2011

The name vgmTorrents shouldn’t be too unfamiliar for our long time readers. We featured this unique private tracker for the first time in 2009 and it received very positive feedback from our readership back then. vgmTorrent was a BitTorrent tracker dedicated to indexing soundtracks from popular video games. It was indexing content related to a very specific niche and was the first of its kind. However, the site ran into troubled waters in 2010 and eventually shut down. Management problems were cited as the primary reason for this sudden closure. Good news is that vgmTorrents is now back online. Everything has been started again from scratch and the site has switched to a forum based style. All changes aside, vgmTorrents still remains to be a video game music tracker, indexing soundtracks, game rips, remix tracks and fan made music.

vgmTorrents Logo

Although a lot has changed at vgmTorrents, it’s still run by the same owner as before. Here’s what Rosario (SysOp) had to say about the reboot:

As you have probably noticed, the tracker has just been restarted from scratch a few months ago mostly because of management problems. I also lacked experience with trackers a few years ago when I first created it. For this and a variety of other reasons I decided to wipe out everything and start again with stricter rules on contents and more organization in general. I want it to grow fast, and I'm uploading most stuff by myself and getting people to know about the tracker and join it.

In terms of statistics, the resurrected vgmT is still a very young torrent site. It currently only tracks around 75 torrents and has 185+ registered members. They’ve had almost zero publicity this time around and these stats will increase rapidly as news of their return spreads around the BT community.

Content is what makes vgmT such a unique private tracker. Instead of tracking movies, TV shows or other general stuff, vgmTorrents indexes official soundtracks (OST) from video games. It appears that they have now expanded to track remixed soundtracks, fan made music and even game rips. Screenshot below shows part of vgmTs torrent index:

vgmTorrents Index

Registrations for this tracker are currently open. If you are a video game music enthusiast or a collector, you might want to check it out. Of course, readers are more than welcome to share any game OSTs they own through this site.

P.S.- If you are the creative type, you can join vgmT’s logo design contest and stand a chance to win two original soundtracks CDs of your choice. It’s as simple as it sounds – design them a new site logo and the creator of the best submission wins.

Special thanks to Rosario "pt2ph8" for the heads up.

Panda.CD – Unique Music Tracker With Legal Torrents And Artist Donations

Wednesday, 20 April 2011

In modern day and age, the moment you hear the words ‘music torrent tracker’, you automatically attribute them with illegal downloads which infringe copyright. While most of the torrent sites out there do enable sharing of copyrighted material, the BitTorrent technology can be put to legal uses as well. Panda.CD is a new private torrent tracker that demonstrates a legit use of BitTorrent – not only does the site encourage uploading legal music, but it also has a model where users can directly donate to artists as an appreciation of their work. Just like a regular music tracker, Panda.CD indexes MP3 and FLAC tracks of music related to a number of different genres. However, these files are either uploaded by artists themselves or are licensed under sharing friendly schemes such as Creative Commons. If you are interested in joining this unique tracker, signups are currently open.

Panda.CD

Panda is a brand new torrent site and has only been online for a couple of days. It currently tracks around 160 torrents and has ~200 registered members. As mentioned earlier, PCD encourages artists to share their original music to be distributed over BitTorrent. The site has a unique ‘artist donations’ feature through which users can directly donate to artists as a reward for their efforts. More on how this feature works is quoted below:

Whenever you upload a torrent if you are the artist in question or you are an official representative, you have the option to enter your PayPal details and an (optional) donation target (which is total sum on donations that you would like to achieve). This will appear on the details page of the torrent, allowing other site members to donate directly to you for your torrents if they so wish.
Once a donation target has been reached on a torrent it will thereby be made freeleech for 1 week. Setting your donation info on your ‘edit’ page will also add a PayPal button to your profile. If you are the artist responsible for any of the torrents already uploaded here by another member please contact us to claim ownership and enable artist donations.
But of course, non-artist members can still upload freely available music. So don’t let that stop you.
We envision the site as being one where artists can come together to share their work, while members directly support the creation of new music.

Making an artist donation for a torrent you like is pretty easy – just click on the green star that appears next to the torrent name on main index.

Panda.CD Index

So, can only artists upload torrents to Panda.CD? Are only legal uploads allowed here? We contacted the site’s owner for further clarification:

Yeah only legal uploads are allowed. Any music can be uploaded as long as the licence permits it. So while this means that the site is more geared towards bands/artists releasing their own music, members could still potentially make their own rips of music that allows sharing (eg. existing creative commons music). Only the artist themselves, or an official representative may receive artist donations for a torrent.

It may be a new site but the concept behind Panda.CD is very interesting. If this kicks off, it could put to rest a lot of “BitTorrent is evil” myths out there. For those interested in joiing, signups are currently open.

TuneSound Scene Mp3 Tracker – VIPMusic, SceneSound & MP3Scene Alternative?

Monday, 18 April 2011

The past couple of months haven’t been particularly good ones for scene mp3 torrent trackers. We saw the demise of one of the largest torrent sites catering to this niche, VIPMusic, much to the disappointment of its loyal fan base. This was soon followed by extended downtime at MP3Scene, a private MP3 tracker that showed a lot of promise as a potential replacement to SceneSound. If you are a fan of scene released music albums, here’s some good news for a change; TuneSound is a brand new torrent site that aims to fill the gap left behind by the likes of VIPMusic, SceneSound and MP3Scene. It another site that’s based on the SoftMP3 source code. While TS has got off to a great start so far, it remains to be seen if this tracker can break the curse which seem to affect the SoftMP3 clones that launched in recent times. If you are interested in joining, signups are currently open.

TuneSound

Although it’s only been online for several days, TuneSound is off to a flying start. The site has already amassed over 550 torrents and managed to recruit 575+ members. These statistics are only poised to go up as news of the tracker spreads around the BitTorrent community. TS seems to have Swedish origins but thankfully for non Swedish members, the interface language supports 6 additional languages including English.

As we mentioned earlier, TuneSound is built on the same source as SoftMP3. It basically has the same look and feel of SoftMP3 and retains hallmark features such as the unique start page, separate browse pages each for new releases, archived releases, requests and lossless music, along with a few customizations here and there. As for the content, TS is a torrent tracker specializing in scene released MP3 music albums. Indexed music is organized into 40+ different genres including Rock, Pop, Indie, Punk, Jazz and more. In addition to MP3 files which form the majority of  torrent index, this site tracks some MDVDR and Lossless music files as well.

TuneSound Index

Registrations for TuneSound are currently open. Although there is no max user limit set currently, TS is expected to go invite only after the initial open registration period which may only last 1-2 weeks. If you love scene music, feel free to check this site out.
