PirateBees – Upcoming One Click Hosting Service “Made By Pirates, For Pirates”

With the recent shut down of MegaUpload, the cyberlocker and one click hosting services space was shaken violently. In the aftermath, several leading file hosters including FileSonic, FileServe, FilePost & x7.to either suspended their operations or reduced functionality that made sharing of large files possible. In dark times like this, you’d think that no one would think of launching a new cyberlocker service, right? Wrong. As it is always the case with file sharing sites, when one goes down, several others pop in to take its place. PirateBees is one such new service that claims to offer free, one click online storage. This yet to be launched service carries an interesting tagline “Made by Pirates, For Pirates”. Not much is known about PirateBees yet, apart from the fact that crew behind veteran DDL forum x264-bb are behind the project.

The initial pre-launch publicity about the new site was given through a mass PM sent to existing x264-BB members:

Official word is that the service will launch on 1st of April, 2012. And according to a comment on their FaceBook page, the servers are likely to be based in Latvia, where pressure from US laws would be minimal. x264-bb did suffer a lot with deleted links with recent shut downs of FileServe, MU and the likes. They may have finally decided to launch a file host of their own. Whether the final service will be free for all, invite only or exclusive to x264-bb members is currently not known. It’s all speculation right now - you can enter your E-mail address on the site to receive any official announcements made in future. Had enough of scene release indexing sites? We’re not quite done yet – here’s another one. iReleases is a new direct download link indexer for scene releases. As most of the sites of its genre do, iReleases organizes latest movie, music, TV series and other zero day releases pre’d by groups in the warez scene and indexes them along with download links and public torrent links. For hard core private tracker fans, torrent links will mostly be useless as they point to public sites. There are however multiple DDL links for each release, with file hosted on services such as FileSonic and FileServe. iReleases being one of the newer DDL sites sports a streamlined look and feel which resembles that of a web 2.0 startup.

Being a relatively newly launched site, iReleases is one of the new generation DDL sites with a modernized look and feel similar to Mukki.org, DirectDownload.TV and MovieSociety which we recently featured. It has been online for around one and a half months but already indexes 15000+ scene releases which is pretty impressive.

iReleases comes with some useful features such as easy access to torrent and DDL links via two buttons next to release title, unique and customized detailed description pages (content changes depending on the type of releases i.e. if it’s a music album genre and bitrate info will be displayed, if it’s a TV show screen caps and other related info will appear), easy switch between release categories using main toolbar, category based RSS feeds, live updates on Twitter and more.

iReleases seems to be using an auto uploader bot to upload indexed scene releases to DDL sites. Usually there are FileSonic and FileServe links present for even the newest of indexed items. Older and popular releases get additional links thanks to user submissions.

Best part about iReleases is that you don’t need to register to use the site. Everything from browsing the main index to viewing download links can be done by guests with no strings attached.

A couple of years back, 700MB was pretty much the standard size for a movie encode hosted online. But that was in the age of CDs, and today we live in a world where DVD and Blu Ray disks are the standard and CD almost extinct. Ever increasing broadband speeds and additional bandwidth coupled with availability of high quality video sources have made large sized, high definition encodes, Blu Ray rips, etc popular downloads on file sharing networks. Although downloading a 4-10GB sized Blu Ray encode is not much of a problem nowadays for most folks, there are still times when we may be forced to conserve those several hundred megabytes of space (let it be because of a data cap, lack of hard disk space or having the need to transfer videos to your mobile device). Enter 300MB UNiTED – this is a great site to have, especially when you want to download a movie with decent visual quality but with smallest possible file size as well.

We’ve previously talked about sites such as RMVBusters where you could download lesser sized rips in RMVB (RealMedia Variable Bitrate) format. However, 300MB UNiTED does not specialize in RMVB files – most of their encodes come in a MKV (Matroska) container and can be played using new generation media players present in regular PCs as well as on mobile devices, DVD players and TVs. Note that all rips are not exactly 300MB – file size usually varies between 300MB – 500MB and longer movies come in even larger sized encodes.

300MB UNiTED is mainly run by a P2P release group and naturally, you can find a lot of unique, exclusive encodes here. Most of the new releases appear to be ripped from high definition sources (i.e. Blu Ray) and hence have pretty decent visual quality despite their smaller size. There are currently over 500 re-encodes available and new ones get added frequently. In addition to smaller sized re-encodes, 300MBU indexes regular 720p/1080p HD video material as well. In addition to movies and TV shows, the site maintains a collection of music videos both in HD and SD formats.

300MB UNiT3D’s homepage is modeled after a release blog where each new upload gets its own separate blog post. Posts about newest uploads are featured in the homepage. If you’d rather prefer a, old fashioned, forum based style, just register and log into the 300MBU forum (screenshot above shows some of the forum sections available). Registrations were open and last check and there were 9400+ members active in the community.

Good news for web developers, graphic designers, software engineers and students across the globe. TemplateP2P, one of the largest online resources for tutorials, graphics, coding, scripts, animation, templates, etc, is opening their doors to the public after almost 6 months. Open signups will continue throughout this weekend and will end on Sunday the 22nd. This is a great opportunity for those of you who missed out on the previous open registration during Christmas 2010. If you are a new reader just joining in, TemplateP2P is a massive forum with tons of direct download links to premium content (which you usually need to pay for, if obtained legitimately) related to the fields of web development, graphics design, programming, 3D animation and more.

Despite being a closed, invite only community on almost every day of the year, TemplateP2P is not a small site at all. As of 20/5/2011 there were over 18500 active members and 35000+ threads full of download links. Speaking of download links, these usually point to high quality content such as full software, hundreds of tutorials, templates, scripts, CMS and forum systems, Flash content, 3D graphics and animation, fonts, stock photography, 2D graphics, images, icons, vectors, wallpapers, plugins / addons / extensions for various programs and a lot of other stuff useful to both students and professionals. Over the years, we’ve featured a fair number of scene release sites on this blog. Something we’ve noticed with such sites is that they never seem to go unnoticed by our readers – articles about General DDL sites or forums usually get an above average number of hits. So here’s another resource we thought you might like; Mukki.Org. Mukki can be termed as a hybrid of a release blog and a direct download link forum. It’s not a carbon copy of the average DDL forum you see everyday – in fact, this is one of the more unique sites we’ve reviewed in the recent past, along with MovieSociety and DirectDownload.TV. Mukki pretty much has everything you look for in a general download site – it has a nice clean interface, indexes tons of content and auto uploads releases for multiple one click hosting sites for added reliability.

Been online since November 2010, Mukki has managed to attract a quite a large following during this time. It currently has an Alexa ranking of 26000, and this seems to be improving by the day. And between Nov 2010 and May 2011, the site has managed to add 72000 releases, an impressive average of 12000+ uploads each month. Mukki indexes both scene and P2P releases and as we mentioned earlier, each release comes with multiple download links. By default, new entries seem to get auto uploaded to FileSonic, FileServe and DepositFiles cyber locker services. Newer and popular releases usually get additional links, thanks to Mukki’s active community of users.

For me, the favorite part of this site is not the massive download index – its main highlight is the unique UI. This site boasts a compact, easy to read main index which packs quite a lot of information. As you might see in the screenshot below, different types of releases have different types of details attached next to their entry in the main index. For example, music uploads carry artist name, album name and genre info while TV episodes have season details.

Detailed release information pages are pretty well designed and they too have different layouts depending on the type of content it displays. For example, TV and movie description pages will contain screen captures while a page for a music upload will display album cover art and track info.

Mukki is currently in beta but is open to the public. You can view and download files without having to log in or register. If you are looking for a good Scene/P2P download resource, don’t forget to check this out.

In this day and age, it’s not very common for a direct download link forum that specializes in educational content to surface. Everybody seems to be hooked on downloading HD content, movies, TV shows, etc and E-Learning content is becoming increasingly rare from DDL sites. However, less hype doesn’t mean such sites aren’t there – WormHole.in is the newest DDL forum dedicated to tracking educational material. The site is very young but is brave enough to venture into this very specific niche. At WormHole.In you can find discussions about many different topics such as medical and health sciences, engineering, mathematics and a number of other similar topics. What’s even better is that this site indexes one click hosting links to related documentaries, E-books and software on these topics.

Although it’s been online for a couple of months, WH has had almost zero publicity. The site currently has around 300 members, which is expected to shoot up after articles similar to this. Despite the lack of users, a dedicated uploader team and staff appears to be hard at work adding new content tor the site to make it more appealing to new users. As of 5/5/2011 the forum had over 1500 posts on 400+ different topics.

Despite the presence of a bulletin board and a recreational forum which are more focused on math, science, medical sciences, health, etc oriented discussions, perhaps the most popular section on WormHole would be their ‘USF Resources’ forums. This is where direct download links for various educational content including websites, e-books, videos, streaming links, software, research, etc is indexed. In addition to DDL links, there are some torrents indexed as well (mostly tracking TV documentaries). There isn’t a lot of content available for download right now, but it definitely has the potential to grow.

Usually, WormHole only accepts select members into the site via recruitment. However, signups have now been opened for a limited time in a bid to expand the user base quickly. If you are interested in educational discussions and downloads (especially science and math related stuff), this would be a site worth checking out.

Here’s a site which we think all movie fans will come to love – MovieSociety (MS) is the newest specialized movie DDL (direct download links) resource on the block. The site, which at a glace resembles the look and feel of a release blog combined with a private torrent tracker, features an intuitive user interface, powerful search features, fast navigation and of course, an ever expanding library of movies with XviD, Blu Ray, 720p and 1080p quality video hosted on multiple cyber locker services such as FileSonic, Duckload and FileServe. MovieSociety appears to be a site written from scratch (not using a common template) and is currently in beta test stage. Good news is that registrations are open during this phase and interested readers are now able to sign up for an account to test drive MS even before official launch.

We are back again with another collective open signup update – this time with 10 more direct download link forums that have proved to be widely popular amongst our reader base. As some of our regular readers might know, this article is a recap of 10 most recently featured DDL sites on FILEnetworks Blog. Whenever a niche forum or a torrent site goes down, the loss is strongly felt by its users. For most niche sites, alternatives are hard to come by and most of the loyal members often rely on a single site to download their content. Users of the direct download link forum ForeignMoviesDDL felt no different when they saw their favorite site’s homepage replaced with an advertisement ridden, parked domain web page a couple of days ago. Many assumed the worst but good news is that ForeignMoviesDDL is not raided or shut down. The site apparently ran into some trouble while trying to renew their domain and this has resulted in them being moved to a new location. Despite this small hiccup, FMDDL still still very much online without any loss of data. If you are hearing about this forum for the first time, it’s a great site specializing in rare, non mainstream & foreign movies from across the world.

With over 15000 registered members and over 10000 indexed releases, FMDDL is one of the largest sites of its caliber. However, most people who stumble across its homepage do not even know what the site has in store for them. By default, FMDDL’s homepage looks like that of a regular release blogs’. There’s nothing much special there but its forums is where the actual magic lies. Once you register and log into the forums, you’d find that it’s a fully equipped discussion board with categorized threads offering direct download links to thousands of movies (DDL links are often files hosted on Hotfile, Rapidshare, etc – they all work great with JDownloader).

If you are wonderin what sort of content is indexed on FMDDL, the following description is quoted from our previous review of the site:

Speaking of the content indexed on FMDDL, it’s all movies. However, don’t expect to find the latest Hollywood blockbuster flicks here. Indexed films are categorized into 5 mains sections based on the region they originated from; North America, UK, Australia and New Zealand (English, non mainstream movies), South America & Africa, Europe & Russia Southern, Western & Central Asia and finally Eastern & Southeastern Asia . If you take a look at most of the file sharing news blogs these days, you might notice that they are full of stories about sites getting taken down, scene topsites being raided and domain names getting seized by authorities. Some of you might even think that this is the end of file sharing as we know it. However, this is clearly not the case – takedowns are just a part of the cycle and despite these, new BitTorrent trackers, direct download link forums and similar sites launch every day. Today’s post is about one such newly launched site which still hasn’t had much publicity – DirectDownload.TV. As the name suggests, it specializes in TV series direct downloads. DirectDownload.TV is similar to ev0.in, Dedicated-TV.Net and TV-Dump (see end of post for links to full reviews of these) both in terms of content as well as visual & usability features. DDTV, which has a simple, modern user interface, indexes download links to hundreds of television episodes and provides users with options such as search, RSS and E-mail updates on new episodes (follow favorite shows) and more.

DirectDownload.TV is a pretty new site which is only a couple of months old so it’s natural that many of you haven’t heard about it yet. It appears to be a project by the crew behind ReleaseMix, a general release blog similar to RLSLOG. No official information is available on the number of releases indexed by DDTV but it’s been averaging around 100 new episodes per day during the past week or so. It is not known if they use an auto uploader bot to upload the releases to one click hosting sites – either way 100 daily uploads is an impressive amount for a specialized TV DDL blog.

One of the strongest features of DDTV is its user interface. The site features a modern, web 2.0 based user interface that has fast navigation and smoother transitions. It lets you easily search for a show based on either a search term or a category – if you click on the name of a TV series that appears on the index, DDTV will list out all of its related episodes along with their download links. Additionally, this site allows you to follow your favorite shows – you can get RSS and E-mail notifications (customizable) when new episodes are released for shows you have followed. To follow a show, simply click on the plus sign next to its name on the main index – note that this feature is available for registered users only.

At DirectDownload.TV, all indexed releases come with multiple direct download links. You don’t have to expand threads or open separate pages to see them – simply click on any one of the icons that appear next to a release name on the main index. When a release is broken into multiple files, that too is depicted clearly in the index. Files are usually uploaded to hosts such as FileServe, FileFactory, DuckLoad and FileSonic.

Registrations for DirectDownload.TV is currently open. While non members are able to see download links, advanced features such as favorites, custom RSS and E-mail updates, etc are only available for registered users. Registration is easy and involves no confirmation E-mail.

With a vast majority of all direct download link (DDL) forums out there specializing in either movies or general content, it should be refreshing to hear about a niche forum – so here’s one. CGPersia is a popular online community for all things related to computer graphics (CG) and animation. At a glance, CG might not strike as too hot a topic to base a DDL forum on – but CGPersia has proved this theory wrong. Over the last couple of years, the site has built a massive following to become probably the largest graphics DDL forum out there. Today, it’s a top Alexa ranked site with a ranking of ~13000. As for the content, CGPersia is an excellent online resource for anyone who’s into graphics design, animation or a related field. You might a professional, a student or a mere enthusiast but you’ll pretty much find anything graphics related on this forum ranging from tutorials to full software downloads.

CGPersia is not the only site out there catering to the web and graphics design/development community. We have already talked about trackers and forums such as BTTrove, TemplateP2P, Torrent Script, CreativeBits, GFXnews, etc (see end of this post for reviews of these sites) but CGP seems to be the biggest out of the bunch. It currently has over 141000 members and nearly 25000 forum threads making it a huge community buzzing with activity. Some of its pages are public and are indexed by Google which I’m sure helps a lot to bring in new traffic.

CGPersia is indeed a heaven for graphics enthusiasts. The site indexes verified, reliable direct download links for graphics authoring and 3D animation software for Windows, Mac and Linux, premium plugins, textures, models and of course, a whole lot of tutorials. There’s no need to sugarcoat the fact that bulk of the premium content indexed here are pirated material. However, CGP does not host any of the actual files on its servers – these are stored on one click hosting sites such as Hotfile, BTShare, etc and only the link is posted on forum threads - that’s how every DDL forum rolls these days. Some files are uploaded to multiple services using link spreaders, so that a mirror is available in case one link gets taken down.
